Ross Coulthart

Ross Coulthart, 55, has worked as an investigative journalist for over 30 years. Trained as a lawyer, he has won five Walkley journalism awards, including the top award for Australian journalism, the Gold Walkley. His broadcast television investigative journalism also won a Logie award. He is the author of three books (The Lost Diggers, The Lost Tommies, and Charles Bean: If People Really Knew) and co-author of two others (Dead Man Running and Above The Law, with Duncan McNab). He has worked for The Sydney Morning Herald, ABC TV Four Corners, A Current Affair with Mike Willessee and Jana Wendt, The Nine Network’s Sunday Program, Channel Seven’s Sunday Night Program, and now Sixty Minutes. His best-selling biography of World War I war correspondent and official historian Charles Bean won him one of Australia’s top literary prizes in 2015: The Prime Minister’s Literary Award for History. He is married and has two daughters. Ross has also reported on the conflicts in East Timor, Iraq and Afghanistan and seen first-hand the great work done by Australasian military medicine professionals on the frontline.
