JOIN US NEXT YEAR AT THE
NATIONAL CONVENTION CENTRE, CANBERRA 12-14 OCTOBER 2018

WELCOME FROM OUR PRESIDENT

It is my great pleasure to welcome you all to my hometown of Brisbane for the annual Australasian Military Medicine Association Conference.

With all that has occurred in the world in the last year, our 2017 theme recognises the important and diverse role that our military medicine personnel take on during times of political, social, and environmental unpredictability.

We look forward to welcoming you to three days of informative sessions, engaging keynote speakers and exciting social activities.

Greg Mahoney
AMMA President

WELCOME FROM OUR OPENING KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Planning for the Unexpected…when you least expect it, expect it.  We cannot know everything in the world that will happen to us and those around us every day.  We can, however, plan and train to a broad enough range of scenarios to cover most of the likely possibilities.  What about the rest of life’s events, those “Black Swans” that catch us off guard despite our best efforts?  Those are the events that keep many of us up at night.  I am honored and humbled to be able to share some of my thoughts of how we might partner in that planning and training, leveraging cooperative opportunities of Global Health Engagement.  I look forward to a wonderfully stimulating discussion in the beautiful city of Brisbane.

Colonel, Joseph B. Anderson
